Training and Testimony in Tena!
The week of March 10-17th the fourth Gear Up team traveled to Ecuador, this time to a small city called Tena. Tena is the capital of the Napo Province and is very close to Misahualli--a jungle town that is near and dear to our hearts. We thank God for once again giving us the opportunity to serve Him, through tactical fire and EMS training. Most importantly, we praise Him for allowing Gear Up to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with more than sixty Fire/EMS personnel from Tena and other surrounding departments. Throughout the week, the 5 team members of Gear Up (along with three translators) carried out the mission of TRAINING, SHARING, EQUIPPING AND CONNECTING. We know it was God who strengthened and enabled each man to sacrificially give of himself to make these six days a success. By the end of the week, relationships were forged, training was executed, testimonies were shared, and two firefighters accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Savior. The beauty of this ministry is that gives Christian firefighter/EMS professionals a unique platform from which to personally share Christ, but also an opportunity to share their job knowledge and passion with their international brothers and sisters. Truly, it's been such a cool experience for those who've had the chance to go; and we look expectantly towards future trips, as God continues to open doors. God-willing, another team will be traveling to a small coastal department in Ecuador this July. Also, while in Tena, Gear Up spoke with the chief of the fire department in the Galapagos Islands and confirmed a future training trip. It is our prayer that
God will continue to give opportunities and raise up servants who are willing and able to gear up and go.
